REFLECTIONS ON THE ELECTION RESULT 2017

REFLECTIONS ON THE ELECTION RESULT 2017

1- Theresa May did not confirm to Pensioners that the Winter Fuel allowance would only be removed from very rich people defined as those with income over £70,000 per annum
Thus, she lost many votes from her core supporters. A foolish omission.

2- She concentrated too much on Brexit -  "Give me the mandate " - when she already had a mandate and majority. A mistake to call an Election.

3- She attacked Corbyn all the time when he was offering the Young Voters lots of goodies like No University fees, the NHS staff more money....and Theresa May let Corbyn get away with it.

4- The new Policy for Care should never be included in the Manifesto.
She should have said...We are working to improve Care and we will have a White Paper soon. She trapped herself and open to criticism.

5- The Campaign was too centered on Theresa May. People do not like Demagogs.

6- Corbyn came across as a friendly, honest, Grandfather type with great appeal to the Young. The Opposition voters felt that the Conservatives were being nasty to a genuine, friendly, honest Corbyn.

7 - The increased Young Vote - who have entrenched Values - and who liked the Corbyn Goodie Bag - helped Labour win seats.

8 - What the Voters wanted to hear was - How are you going to make my life more prosperous ?
Labour gave lots of answers however false. The Conservatives concentrated on Brexit negotiations and forgot that 48% of the Population were against Brexit + more Young Voters came out, liking the message from Labour and not getting Goodie messages from the Conservatives.

9 - A grain of comfort for the Conservatives....They decisively beat Labour in number of Parliamentary seats. Salmon SNP lost his seat in Scotland - The majority of Scots do not want Independence and The Leader of the SNP in Parliament lost his seat. Nick Clegg LIBDEM a big Remainer.

10 - So, it is not all doom and gloom for the Conservatives. The Future depends on a good, beneficial
Brexit negotiation result with the EU.

If so, all will be forgiven.
If not, I fear another General Election in 2018.
