THE BREXIT NEGOTIATIONS - 2016-2018

Right from the beginning of the EU/UK Negotiations in 2016, the EU outgunned the UK Conservative Government.
The EU demanded that -

The UK had to agree a Divorce Bill which was eventually agree at £ 39 Billions.
I have never seen the justification or breakdown of this huge sum of money.
There was also other questions such as the future relationship of EU citizens and UK citizens post Brexit. The EU insisted that no negotiations on Trade could commence unless Part One as listed above were agreed.

Now, over 2 years there is no Trade agreement, disputes in the British Parliament and chaos.
What has the UK negotiators been doing all this time ?

First David Davies - smiling and shaking hands with his counterparts in the EU on TV - " All is well." Then, Raab doing the same "We are nearly there".  Dr Fox - "A Trade deal is in our grasp. "
Theresa May has tried her best but the fact is, the UK has not concluded a Trade deal with the EU.
This is a pathetic outcome. So what next ?

There can only be one sensible outcome to the gridlock  in Parliament  and in the EU. COMPROMISE.
What is the Compromise ?

The UK must stay in the Single Market as far as trade with the EU is concerned BUT the UK can make its own Trade deals with the rest of the World.
This means No border in Ireland between North and South, Certainty to Business and Prosperity for all.
Al the other EU concessions remain - UK has own Immigration Policy, British Parliament Supreme, British Laws supreme except for Trade between the EU and the UK when the European Court of Justice remains supreme.

We must consider the 48% who voted to stay in the EU. They get the compromise of the UK staying in the Single Market. Theresa May must abandon her Red Line.
The Leavers 52% get control over Immigration - a big reason for the Leave vote.

The present impasse is because the UK Negotiators have not been listening to the EU.
If you leave the Club you cannot enjoy the same benefits of the Club. If you leave the Single Market, you cannot have the same benefits as the members of the Single Market.

Parliament is split into factions. A complete withdrawal from the EU - NO Deal - is chaos for the UK and the EU. Stop asking for this. Norway deal, Canada deal, Switzerland deal, Bespoke deal ( which might or might not be agreed, Irish Backstop problem.

I wish I was a Politician in Parliament at this historic moment. All I can do as a humble British Citizen is to write these articles.

BUT, is anyone listening ?

CHARITIES APPEALS AT CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS CHARITY APPEALS

My Wife and I have been strong supporters to various charities for many years now. We do our best to support certain Charities. My priorities are RAF Bomber Command Memorial, The Royal British Legion and Cancer Research as well as our local Church. In my case I have donated a New Saint George’s Flag on Remembrance Day to the Church in Beaconsfield for the past 20 years.
We are also Volunteers in the local Community. We are doing our part and most of our friends are doing their part too.

Of course, Millions of other people donate to Charities from time to time during the course of the year. These people are caring people and I have every respect for them.

This year 2018, I am saddened by the heart breaking appeals on television. Appeals for clean water in villages across Africa.
Appeals for children dying in Yemen.

Here are some examples of some of the Charities advertising on TV this year.....

MSF Hospitals - “ Medicin Sans Fronieres “. Send £10

Water send £3

Adopt a child - Give £3 per month

Dogs for the blind - Send £3 per month

Great Ormond Street - Send £10, £20, £30

British Heart Foundation _  Send £5 per month

Cancer research - Send £3 per month

Send toy for a child - £3 per month

Shelter - Send  £5 for children homeless

Macmillan - Send £3 per month

Guide dogs for the Blind - Send £3 per month.

Care International - Send £3 per month

Salvation Army -  Send £5 per month

There may be more. These example are only the ones I have viewed on TV.
They are all very deserved appeals but........

All these appeals made me so sad. They are all desperate for money.

Now, here is my disgust ! I do not blame the Charities at Christmas. I blame the British Government and The United Nations. Why ?

The British Government sends £13 Billions in Overseas Development Aid. Isn’t Clean Water for villages in Africa a priority ? Why do Charities have to beg for donations at Christmas ? It is shocking.
Isn’t Guide Dogs for the blind a priority.
Much of the Overseas Development Fund is wasted - in Government corruption in Africa, Officials taking their “ Commission “ as well as Middle Men taking their Cut in distribution costs.
There does not seem to be Accountability. Government Priorities are wrong,

My solution, is to give the money to the Charities first. Let them provide more water pumps. Let them feed the starving. Let them heal the sick like MSF.
Only if there is money left over, give it to other overseas projects like - Farming, Schools, Hospitals, Training Doctors and Nurses. There should be plenty. If The UK give £13 Billions , what is the total sent worldwide ? The USA is the biggest donor towards World Poverty.
What about the recent United Nations Report that says that in the UK there are Millions of children living in Poverty ? Let us start dealing with this before we give away £13 Billions. Get the Priorities right.

It is so shocking that each Christmas, out of desperation, the Charities have to bombard us night after night asking for money. Note also, they ask for between £3 and £5 per month.
This amounts to £36 per year or £60 per year.
Most Pensioners find it difficult to live on their pensions but the TV adverts prick their hearts and they feel obligated to donate.

The same priories apply to The United Nations and UNESCO.
They should raise more money from the countries forming the General Council in New York.

I am pessimistic ! For the duration of my lifetime, there have been terrible suffering in the World.
We need to revise the Priorities.

The Churches and the Charities are the best routes for spending money not the Governments. However, the Charities also need accountability, scrutiny and monitoring too.
Something has to change !  There are so many examples of Aid being abused in the World.
The UK cannot solve all the problems in the World but the UK can help solve the desperate TV calls for help - the list that I have provided all need more help. The Public cannot be burdened at the expensive Christmas period when £13 Billions are spent on other Overseas Projects.
A review of the UK Overseas Aid budget is long overdo. Many people believe that the money should be spent on solving some of the problems in the UK. The UN should be responsible for Overseas Aid so that the burden is shared by the World Community.

But, will anything change ? I hope so, but I am doubtful.
Next Christmas I expect even more appeals from all these caring Charities. 
Next year, I will be even more saddened by the plight of children in Africa, children in Yemen, Homeless in Britain ans elsewhere in the World !

THE MAY BREXIT DEAL
May be this or it May be that..........

I must admit that I am confused - not because I am losing my cognitive faculties but because I am getting mixed messages from the Politicians.
Here are the reasons for my confusion......

President Trump has expressed doubts about a future trade deal with the UK but we already trade with the USA via the EU.
Theresa May - whom I highly regard as a wonderful woman - has spent 2 years trying hard to negotiate with the EU but she has failed to finalise a Trade Deal in these 2 years. Cabinet Ministers have said We will get a new frictionless deal. Wishful thinking.
The fact is we have NOT got a Trade deal.

The agreement with the EU about the future is as flexible as it can be. No firm agreement. Fantasy land.
It is because of this failure that I now would vote against the agreement unless there are amendments.
The Government spokesmen say We have protected our Fishing Industry. This appears to be wrong. In any case. Macron has said he will vote any future deal down unless the French Fishermen can fish as at present.

There is so much woolly thinking about Trade.
Can we or can’t we deal with the USA .

Here is my other concern.........

At present the UK trades with the World via the EU who act as a strong negotiating team.
Do you think the EU would like the U.K. to compete with them ? No.
That is why, the future Trade Deal would say...The UK must not offer better deals than the EU.
The UK cannot leave the short term Trade deal without
the EU agrees. Is this true ?

So, I am now a Doubter.

Where do we go from here......Does anyone know ?

Dylan Thomas was one of Wales's most famous Poets and Authors.

His most famous work was a play entitled  " Under Milkwood. " This was a play about a small Welsh village and the first line in his play was  " To begin and the beginning. "

So, today, I am going to Begin at the End !

By the end.,I mean the end so far 2018.

In January and February this years I was in Australia. I did a lot of walking, including climbing to the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge. In March I was in Spain and I developed a blister of my right foot.

I went to a Chiropodist who cut away some dead skin and put a dressing over the blister.

In April, over a 2 day period, the blister turned Black. I had a Diabetic Infected Ulcer.

I was rushed to hospital, put of an Anti Biotic drip for a week and for the next few months attended Wycombe Hospital. The Ulcer has now healed at last. So, my first lesson for you is - Infection can kill and travel fast around your body. Personal Healthcare is a priority.

Let me take you back to my earlier days when I was 20 years of age.
A popular song at the time was - " Cigarettes and Whiskey and Wild Wild Women. " They were singing about Me !

I was a Rugby player and I rowed in the 1st VIII at University. I used to have lovely cooked breakfasts, lunch in the Students cafeteria, Pie and chips,  fish and chips, Pasties and chips and sometimes when the money ran out, chips and chips !

Of course, as normal, I had 6 pints of beer on a Saturday night at the Students dance. I did not care about calories, diets, healthy eating. I did not expect any illness. My weight was 12 stone and I was a happy young man. I was married at 22 and had my first son at 27.

At 24, I won the first Institute of Marketing Scholarship to the USA and took the Advanced Management  course at Harvard Business School.  At 31, I was the Chief Executive of the largest British Office supplies company at the time - Ofrex Limited and I was on the Group Executive Board. At 41, I was the Chief of the Worldwide Group of Medical Companies in the British Oxygen Company.  I travelled the World, staying in the best hotels and dining in the best restaurants such as Maximes in Paris, Peninsular  Hotel in Hong Kong, Savoy in London and so on.

I had the company expense account and as a result the sky was the limit ! Grilled breakfast, Steak for lunch with wine, every type of dinners with wine and a brandy. I smoked Cigars of all types - Montecristo and Partaga cigars my favourites.

I remember once in Paris, my Finance Director and I went to a famous Fish restaurant on the Champs Elysee. We ordered a " Fruit de Mer dish  "- a large selection of Lobster, Prawns, Mussels, Oysters  and so on.  A bottle of Chablis went down a treat. Afterwards, we had a short walk down the Champs Elysee and entered a Steak restaurant for our Main course !. Yes, you have guest it - and a bottle of red Italian Barolo. Of course we had a lovely desert to finish the meal.

And so, the unhealthy lifestyle went on and on But, at what cost ?

My weight peaked at 14 stone 3 pounds.

I developed Diabetes Type 2.

I had a TIA or Mini Stroke.
Skin Cancer

Time to change my Lifestyle.....to an Healthy Regime. " Preventative Healthcare is preferable to Remedial Healthcare. " This is the Lifestyle for NOW and the rest of the 21st Century.

BUT ......IS  ANYONE LISTENING ?

First Priority - Eat and drink Healthily.

My normal Breakfast is Cereals - Shredded Wheat, Corn Flakes or Bran Flakes, Low fat Milk, Porridge, Water, Black Coffee, sometimes Toast Brown Bread.
Half a Banana - A whole Banana pushed my Potassium level to 5.5, which is detrimental to the body.

Half a banana pulled it back to 5 which is normal.

Snack - Walnuts. Flat White Coffee.

Lunch - Salads, or Sandwich. Black Coffee, Water in the UK.
Same in Spanish  Home- mainly Avocado and Prawns, Salads, Fish ( Meluza  Lenquado, Bacalao, Rosada ), Water.

Dinner - Fish, Stir Fry, sometimes Meat,  Water. Sometimes Cheese.

The Normal Regime includes the following........

• No more Wine. 
• No more Beer.
• No more Brandy 
• No more Cigars.
• Sun Cream Factor 50 and Hat always whilst in Sunny Climates even in cloud
• Sometimes a Bun. 
• Avoided Biscuits. 
• Plenty of Water for hydration.
• No more Chocolates
• No more sweets
• No more cakes

We have an allotment at Flackwell Heath growing lots of vegetables and fruit.

My Daily use of the iPad and PC helps to stimulate my Brain and enhance Cognitive Performance.

I had began to realise at last that I could die young.  I wanted to live longer.

So, I joined Bisham Abbey Sports Centre and for 10 years did rowing, cycling and the weights.
Joined Beaconsfield Squash Club

Then, I joined the Wycombe 50 Plus Club at Handy Cross, became the Chairman and served on the Executive Committee for 10 years.

• I played table tennis and short tennis twice a week. I had an excellent Social Life.  We go on trips every month.  I have had many holidays in our second home in Spain - lots of Vitamin D from the sunlight. This year we have been to Australia, Spain twice, Iceland and we are going on a cruise to the Caribbean and the Amazon River in Brazil in January. Lots of exercise ! Lots of Social interaction. We are not lonely.

Next, I joined the Flackwell Heath Tennis Club and latterly the Wooburn Tennis Club where I can play against people aged in their 40s. Of course. I always lose !

On a Monday morning, I play indoor tennis at the Bucks tennis Centre. I have at least 5 hours of Exercise per week.

But, what about this horrible disease called " Dementia " ?

My defence is an Active Mind.  I write articles about Politics, Cultural and Social Affairs 

In Britain Today which I feature on my website - EUREKYS. So far, I have written 199 Articles since 2010.

Next, I compose music. This has included, a Concerto called " The Wild Flowers of the London Olympic Games 2012." in honour of the wonderful displays of wild flowers at the Olympic Park. The Company who provided the seeds, were so impressed that they put the Concerto on the front page of their website. I have also composed some 13 Pop Songs - my song " Cry over You " won a Gold in The Great American Song Contest some years ago. It has been played 17,000 times on Global Digital Radio stations. My song " Everytime " was arranged by Richard Niles. who has had 40 World Hits with artists such as - Kylie Minogue, Tina Turner, Maria Carey, Paul McCartney, Pet Shop Boys and more.

My article " The Online Digital Music Revolution in the 21st Century " is my most viewed Article.

YouTube have all my music - Ray Williams EUREKYS. Headphones must be worn for perfect sound.

There is more......Volunteering. My wife and I have been Volunteers at the Wycombe Swan Theatre for 12 years. We are life supporters of The Collage of Saint George at Windsor Castle and I am donor to renovate old books in the Queens Archive Library at the Castle.

I am currently helping to raise funds for Bomber Command Memorial at Lincoln and the archives at Lincoln University in honour of the 58,000 young men who died fighting for RAF Bomber Command in WW2, including my Father who flew Lancaster Bombers.

Today I am 82. I should be dead but I am not thanks for a change in my Lifestyle.

• My weight today is 11 stone.
• Diabetes is under control.  
• Exercise  gives me more energy and not less.
• My BMI index is 23.
• My biological age is 64.
• Stress under control
•  199 Articles comleted

I still have some threats to my health but I cannot stop the Ageing Process and I cannot stop my eventual demise. However, I hope to live a few more years yet. Perhaps long enough to see a solution to Brexit !

The Romans really got health right !  Their Philosophy was " Mens Sana in Corpore Sano " which means " A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body. "

I recommend to you that you practise Mens Sana in Corporte Sano too.

Finally, be caring towards yourself. Whatever the problem, you can find a solution.  We all suffer ups and downs in our lives.  The Greeks Philosophers said " Know thyself ." Be confidant and strong.
Enjoy your lives to the full but follow an  Healthy Lifestyle.

WYCOMBE 50 PLUS CLUB SUCCESS

WYCOMBE HOST 2018 REACT GAMES

For the first time Wycombe 50 Plus Club hosted the 2018 REACT - Recreational Games at Wycombe Sports Centre.
Teams from all over Southern England attended including Woking, Wellington,Petersfield, Reading, Alton, Fareham and Wycombe. Teams competed in Swimming, Racketball, Table Tennis,Badminton, Short Tennis and Short Mat Bows.
The day turned out to be very successful and superbly organised by Wycombe and with help from the Staff of Wycombe Sports Centre Staff. Many people said how wonderful the facilities were at the Sports Centre.
The Games were opened by Wycombe Wanderers Manager Gareth Ainsworth. He said how impressed he was by the turnout of so many 50 Plus Players and Supporters.
The Awards Ceremony proved to be a dramatic finale. The scores for the overall Champions Cup were Wycombe 72 points Wellington 72 points. Since Wellington had won more Gold Medals, they were crowned Champions and Wycombe as runners up. However, in the 50 Plus category, Wycombe won the Champions Cup. Wycombe were runners up in the 65 category.
Individual Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were won by Wycombe in Swimming, Table Tennis, Badminton, Short Tennis , Racketball and Short May Bowls.

Chair Maureen Dover said - “ Once again Wycombe have made the Town proud. I thank Stuart Lee, General Manager Wycombe Sports Centre and his Staff for their invaluable help.
They were amazing. “
Keith Brown, Team Manager said “ This is another wonderful result for the Team who competed so strongly. “
Organisers Dave Fowler and David Gibbons said “ Yes, it all went smoothly and without a hitch. Thanks to Gareth Ainsworth for such an inspiring Opening address. We would also like to thank Wycombe Sound for the support they gave us on air.”

Years ago, when I travelled the World on business, I would go to my Doctor and get all kinds of vaccinations. The cost was...
Zero because it was done on the NHS.

How times have changed !
Now, my Doctor does not offer free vacinations.
My Doctor said recently...” You must go to a private Doctor such as Doctor Now or Boots the Chemist. So, I contacted them both.
I had quite a shock.

Here are some examples of their prices -

Yellow Fever................. £62
Rabies......................... £62
Cholera...................... £60
Tetanus, Polio, Pertussis £90

Now, since most of us travel as two people or a family of say 5, the cost is horrific.

Why is the cost so high ?

THE HIERARCHY OF DEGREES

THE HIERARCHY OF UNIVERSITY DEGREES

Many people of Society In Britain Today, the Educational Establishment and Recruitment Agencies seem committed  to The Hierarchy of Degrees rather than Non Degree Candidates. The more I think about this the more I realise how utterly wrong these red lines are.
I have been,  in my career an Examiner for University Postgraduate Degrees, First Degrees and Professional Diplomas and I have Recruited hundreds of Candidates in my Business Career.

Now, let me start with the PhD Degree. This gives entry for many to get a Professorship in most Universities. To many, a holder of a PhD is better than someone with a BA Degree.
My view is that this is rubbish.
A person who has achieved a PhD is someone who had studied in depth, one tiny segment of a specialist Subject.
No more or less. This does not by any stretch of the imagination prove  that he or she is more qualified than someone who has a BA or BSc Degree or in fact, does not have any Degree at all.

The same stupid views apply to the grading of First Degrees.
Many employers ask for a BA First or Upper Second Degree.
The poor Candidates with a mere BA Lower Second Are left out in the cold.
Do Employers realise that there may be only 5-10% different in Marks between the two ? Or, the BA Second Class Candidate only had poor marks in one question ?

This reliance on Degrees and Degree Grades is so short sighted. What about
“ Emotional Intelligence ?”
In case you do not know what EI is all about, let me enlighten you. EI is about the attitudes, thinking, character and motivational skills of a candidate. These personal characteristics are just as important as qualifications based on Knowledge Based characteristics.

This means that a Candidate with no Degree might be a better Manager than one with a PhD, BA or BSc. We ought to remember this.
This is why I am a great supporter of the Apprentice Schemes.
There is too much snobbery about University Education nowadays.

The exceptions to the above views are ....Medicine, Accountancy, Engineering, Law.

So, be careful Recruiters when you draw up Job Descriptions. Keep an Open mind.
Do not draw red lines giving preference to the Degree Hierarchy !

Try and be fairer. The Hierarchy of Degrees can often prove to be a wrong assessment and the loss of Candidates of great promise.

EU UK STALEMATE

THE EU UK STALEMATE - ANY SOLUTION ?

Since the result of the Referendum was so close - 52%/48% - it is clear to me that there must be a compromise solution - which I accept will not please everyone.

Let me outline my compromise solution at this late stage....

Attitude of minds must change. The EU are our friends not our enemies. The EU hierarchy might be difficult people but they are sticking to their principles, first established in The Treaty of Rome 1957 - “ Free Movement of Goods, People and Capital.”

SOLUTIONS

1- The UK should agree to respect the rules of the EU when exporting goods into the EU. This is their Right to do. Theresa May called this “The Command Rules Book. “ I call this
“ Harmonisation of Trading Rules.”

2- However, the UK trade with the Rest of the World should be on mutual UK / World Rules and regulations and not on the basis of the Common Rule Book. The UK World Trade must not be fettered by the EU in any way.
This respects the rights of the EU and the UK.
Do not get bogged down with words.
As a result, there is no need for border checks within Ireland and the whole deal is a Free Trade Deal.
Everyone Wins.

3- Immigration - the compromise from the EU is this - Immigration or Free Movement into the UK will be subject to UK Immigration Policy, that is ....

Business Travellers - 3 months stay.
Holiday Makers - 3 months stay.
Workers - subject to the needs of the UK
Health Tourists - must pay in advance - just like UK citizens have to do if they are ill in Spain.

Result - Everyone wins.

Now. Let me repeat reality -

1- The Chequers Plan will not pass Parliament.

2- There must be compromise as I have listed above.

3- There must not be a No Deal solution. If there is, Theresa May should call a General Election for first week in December 2018.

4- This avoids the controversy about a “Peoples Vote .”
If the Conservatives Win, Theresa May will stay and win the argument with a majority in Parliament.
If she loses, then all bets are off and chaos will reign.


People who voted Remain deserve a compromise solution.
The People who voted Leave did not vote for chaos.

Remember this - We must remain friends and live in harmony with the EU and the people of Europe.
We are not divorcing the People of Europe.
We must be careful not to make them Enemies for decades to come.
Millions and Millions have died in the past due to European Wars. Never again. Be warned Politicians.

Conservative Party Beware - A split Party might not get re-elected. People are fed up with Brexit and though Labour have their own problems, people might well decide to “ Give them chance. “ Such is the changeability of the British Electorate.

UNITE FOR A REALISTIC COMPROMISE.

Or, Else........

Invite Donald Trump to negotiate on our behalf !

OVERSEAS AID AND THE CHARITIES APPEALS

THE GOVERNMENT OVERSEAS DEVELOPMENT FUND

In 2016 the British Government spent £13.4 Billions on Overseas Development Fund which is 0.7% of GDP.
The more the U.K. Economy grows, the more we pay.

I am not against Overseas Aid. I believe large sums are subject to corruption and lots of the aid is misdirected. I have long ago suggestion that Overseas monies should be controlled by the UK Official Charities and should not be channelled via Governments in Africa, India and so on.

What annoys me is this -

Every day on TV we are bombarded with Appeals from the Charities...

“ Send £5 to provide water for children who have to drink contaminated water because they do not have clean water. “
Powerful stuff.
“ Send £3 per month to provide schooling for children in Africa. “
“ Send £5 per month to provide protective drugs “
“ Send £5 per month to provide clothing for people in Africa. “

I could go on and on. Now I am not against the private individual to respond to these sad requests BUT...

Where is all this U.K. Overseas Aid going if the priority is to help these poor people ?

Why do the Charities have to make these appeals to ordinary people ?

The answer from the Charities is likely to be that we need more. But the citizens are already contributing £13.4 Billions each year.

Better monitoring of aid, improved Accounting, cut our middle men, reroute aid via Charities and not foreign Governments, cut out waist.

After the speech, I searched for the Media and Opposition reactions. As usual, they were very critical of virtually everything the PM said. I supposed that if she had offered everyone in Britain a Gold Bar, her critics would have said
“ Why did she not offer one years before. “

Theresa May was simply brilliant. It put into the shade the marauding negative speech by Boris Johnson the day before. I wish he would get a hair cut !

Misunderstanding between the two opposing sides of the argument is this ...... A Common Rule Book with the EU over trade, is simply that - between the UK and the EU. It is not binding on the UK concerning trade with the Rest of the World. A small price to pay for a deal and no  " Crash Brexit. "

However, the EU have already refused The Chequers Plan.
In reality, if they had agreed, Parliament would have voted it down. So, Theresa has not chance of a solution.
I fear, that a no deal Brexit is now on the cards.
Do not blame, the PM. She and her Cabinet have tried so hard to reach an agreement with the EU. It was never going to happen.

So, get ready, say NO to a £39 Billions Divorce Payment. Pay up to March 2019. Remember to deduct what the UK have invested in EU joint owned PROPERTY in Brussels and Strasbourg. The UK share in LOANS to EU countries. In any Divorce, property assets must be included - ALL Joint Assets.
I feel we have been weak in debating these points.

Go to the WTO for future trade with the EU.
Get on with it.
We leave the EU lock stock and barrel !

In a few years, the EU will want a new deal with the U.K.

If No Deal is the outcome, the UK must not fear the outcome.

The Irish Border is a problem BUT, if the UK refuses to set up a physical border between Northern Ireland and EIRE, what will the EIRE Government do ? If they set up an EU physical border there will e riots and violence. in this case....Get out of the EU EIRE and join the “ British Isles Free Trade Zone.”
If the UK does not have Customs barriers up between EIRE and Northern Ireland, some people will say - " You are letting in an avalanche of EU goods by the back door. " Do not be silly. What about the cost of Freight Charges and Insurance to ship from the EU to Dublin and then to Northern Ireland and then to Liverpool or elsewhere in the UK ?

1- The UK Fiscal Policy is a strong “ Trump Card “ ( Yes, for Donald Trump as well as he had proved for the USA Economy ) same for the UK.
2- Exchange Rates are in our favour. The £ is already low against the Euro and the US Dollar.
3- We can reduce VAT, Corporation Tax, Income Tax and provide massive Inward Investment Incentives to Businesses, Regional incentives, Export Support Schemes, Reduced tax on Research and Development, Innovation Schemes, Apprentice Training Grants AND “ The World will be our Trading Oyster.”
The USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan ,Africa, South America are just some of the opportunities for Free Trade with the U.K.

WHOW! - What OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE UK.

Do you not think that the EU will not want to share in our Growth and Prosperity in the future ?
Of course they will. Or else, they will face Strikes, Civil Unrest, New Elections and Violence on the streets of European Capitals.
Post No Deal Brexit might lead to a temporary hitch in Economic Growth but this will not last long. Perhaps a good time to invest in the Stock Market, if the FTSE drops considerably. It always recovers !

EDUCATION IN BRITAIN TODAY

A few years ago, I wrote an article entitled - “Trust the Teachers.”
It was full of positive proposals to reform our Educational System. No one took any notice. So, the problems rolled on.

Here are some quotes from Teachers TODAY -

" My family is suffering because I am so tired in the evenings. "

" The bureaucratic pressures are overwhelming me. "

" I used to love Teaching. Now I dread it. "

" I spend all my free time writing notes and reports."

" I am so stressed out at the end of the day. Nobody cares anymore. "

" I must leave Teaching, my health is suffering. "

" I am so depressed. "

These quotes are not minority quotes. They are majority quotes. That is why so many Teachers are leaving the Profession. What a waste !

How can we allow this situation in the Teaching profession to continue ?

I have not changed my views over the years. So, here is a Summary of my recommendations for the future. I believe in Decentralisation of Monitoring and Assessments, not Civil Service dogmatism and interference in the Teaching Profession.

1-Trust the Teachers. By this, I mean, give Teachers more freedom to teach and make sure they are not bogged down by bureaucratic Paperwork.

2-School assessments should be carried out by...

3-Parent Governors
The Head Teacher
Ofsted

4-Education Civil Servants should stay out of the School Performance statistics.

5-Teachers must be freed from writing up Class Teaching Programmes and Class Teaching Contents notes.

6-School League Tables should be abolished.

7- The 2 Years of Advanced Level studies should count as Y1 for a Degree, thereby making it only 2 further years to obtain a Degree. This will reduce Student loans by one third.

8- A 3 year Apprenticeship Level Diploma should be refined and relaunched.

9-A One year Part Time Diploma in Caring Skills should be introduced to improve Caring for the Elderly.

10-Academies should be abolished.
Replaced by Local Authorities Primary Schools and managed by Local Authorities. Parents should be appointed to Local Authority Education Boards.

11- All schools should be designated Secondary Schools.
The top 60% of Pupils over Primary School performances will qualify automatically for the old Grammar Schools ( now designated Wycombe Secondary School for example ) and 40% for old Comprehensive / Secondary Modern ). School to be designated Wycombe Secondary School, with same logo as the past Grammar School.The % rates will differ due to Local Area Demographics.

12-Thereafter, no more 11 Plus or 12 Plus examinations.

13- No more Sats Tests. Children and Teachers are free to concentrate on Holistic Development of Children. Pressure off the continuous pressure of Working towards examination results. In futures children will Develop full capability skills.
Emotional Intelligence is just as important in the real World as IQ in the Intelligence dominated World !

14-Private Education should remain. It helps reduce demands on the Public Purse. Parents must have freedom of choice.

15- Income Tax should be increased to Basic 22% and 42%.
This must be Ring Fenced 1% for Education Budget and 1% for NHS Budget. The two most key priorities to help future generations and those in the Community who need help in sickness.

16- Salaries for Head Teachers should not exceed £100,000 per anum It is ludicrous that some Head Teachers earn £200,000 Plus. Stop this glutinous greed.

17- For routine assistant work in a School, Non Degree Parents can be employed.

18- Free bus travel should continue for Pupils living more than 1 mile from the School.

19- Faith Schools should be abolished.
Schools are classified as...

Primary
Secondary.

20- Teachers must be free to use their own Teaching Skills within Broad Outlines in the Curriculum. They must to be changed from Rigid Demands and Dogma.

Conclusion ......FREE THE TEACHER....FREE THE PUPILS....
REMOVE DOGMA....CIVIL SERVANTS- LEAVE THE TEACHERS ALONE!

Or else,

1- Teacher depressions will continue at record levels.

2-Difficult to recruit Teachers.

3- Pupils emotionally disturbed as examinations and tests emerge.

4- Parents remain distressed if their children fail examinations.

5- A divided Society... Grammar Schools v Public Schools v Comprehensive School

I have considered myself a Christian Member of the Church of England for most of my life. I was Baptised, Confirmed in Brecon Cathedral, was a Choir Boy.
I have found Christians to be friendly, kind, helpful and inspirational people. I like their attitude towards other people who are non Christian.
I liked very much their positive attitude to Life.

One of the cornerstones of the Christian faith has been -
Jesus was the son of God. The Creed was uttered in most services -
Jesus was crucified, dead and buried. He was raised from the Dead, descended into Heaven. He returned to Earth for a short spell. He has dinner with his main followers. They saw his wound in his side where a Roman soldier has pieced him with a spear.
Yes, Jesus was back but not for long.
In the Bible there were many Witnesses to the return of Jesus.

Recently, I have asked some sensible questions...

Why is there no explanation from Jesus of how he was raised to Heaven?
How did he get back ?
What was God like ?
Why did he have to return to Heaven ?
What was Heaven like ?
What were Angels like ?
Did God explain to him how he created the Universe ?

These are basic questions I would have asked Jesus if I was at that dinner on his return to Earth.
The Bible says...In my Father’s House there are many mansions. So, what does this mean ? Did Jesus see any of these Mansions ? Did Jesus see anyone living there ?
What has happened to the Millions who have died before him ?
Did God speak to him during his stay in Heaven ? If so, what did he talk about ?
Did he asked God why he had to be crucified and made a martyr and suffered such pain ?
Couldn’t God find a better way to save the Earthlings ?
What do the Dead do all day ?

I feel that none of these basic questions were asked.
Jesus was the only man in history to come back to Earth after death. Surely, we Christians needed more information from Jesus ?

I am sure that the followers of Jesus would have kept a close watch on him when he was back on Earth. How did Jesus manage to just disappear back to Heaven ?

There are two further questions that bothers me very much.....

1-  The fact that God wanted his only son Jesus to die a horrific death on the Cross. What a terrible thing to wish for. Just to wash away our sins ? Could not God find a better way ?
This is a typical Martyrs Syndrome. In the Iraq / Iran Wars, thousands of young Iranians wanted to die on the battlefield as Martyrs because they were brainwashed into thinking that Death on the battlefield would guaranty them a place in Paradise with 72 Virgins each !!  So much for Martyrs and Realism. Mathematically, 72 Virgins per Martyr was an unlikely outcome.

2 - Jesus was stupid to call himself The King of the Jews during a Roman occupation that feared a Jewish uprising. He was just begging to be sentenced to death. Surely, he could have spent many more years on Earth and did a lot more good ? If he could perform miracles for the few, why could he not perform many more miracles than he did.

We now know in the 21st Century how the Universe was created. A massive Big Bang of gases.
We know there are Billions of Galaxies and Billions of stars and planets in the Universe that we know. There may be more separate Universes. Whow ! Do you really think God did this ?

I am sorry that I find the whole story unrealistic. The Followers of Jesus must have been dumb not to have probed deeper into what happened to Jesus and how did it happen.
We Christians are just left in the air.
Now, I find this very hard to believe.

If God was so powerful and Jesus had the ability to escape death, why has he not returned to Earth, many years ago ? If God was the God of love, surely he could have influenced the Leaders of the World to resist Wars.
Why has Jesus allowed so many people to die defending Christianity ?
Perhaps those who have died horrible deaths over the centuries would have preferred not to have “ Free Will” but to live longer in Peace. One could say, that Jesus and God have let down Millions of decent people.
What a pity that Jesus had not returned to Earth a second and third time to confirm that all the stories in the Bible are authentic. His return would have settled many scores and confusion today between different Beliefs.
We the people have been left with many unanswered questions.

I do not doubt that Jesus was a very good man and sincere in his beliefs.  However, there are too many questions and answers to come to the conclusion that he was made in the image of his Father God.

“ Have Faith you will hear. “ You could apply this philosophy to many things. It is a step into obscurity. It is a phrase that is a " Catch all " conviction that God exists and what happened to Jesus is true.  " Follow me said many Dictators over History. I am the way. Have faith in me ." Millions died having faith in Dictators... Hitler for example.

In spite of my reservations about the Jesus story, I think that The Church today in its many forms plays an important role in Society. For example, my local church, Holy Trinity holds coffee mornings weekly, engages with the Bereaved, organises concerts, sponsors Christmas lunches , helps the sick and acts as a Beacon of Hope for many people. Long may it flourish. The Church is a driving force for Goodness in the Community. It provides Hope. It encourages kindness amongst citizens of all races.  I like the atmosphere within the Church fraternity. However, I have a BUT.......

So, am I a Christian today ? I would like to be. But, I think that I have too many doubts.

There are 1,650, 000 Arabs living in Israel today - 21% of the population of Israel.
Yes, is that not an amazing statistic ?
2.1 Million Arabs live in the West Bank and 1.79 Million live in Gaza.
These estimates for the West Bank and Gaza are in dispute.
Nevertheless, the statistics about Israel population makes a ridicule of the claim that....”Israel is a racist State.”

Historical facts - An eminent Israeli Dr Michael Bliss says:

“ 3000 years ago, Jerusalem was the capital of Israel. It was called King David’s City. No other country has had Jerusalem as its capital city.”
“ Today in Israel, the Arab minority have full voting rights. They have their own Party in the Knesset, sit as Supreme Court Judges, staff hospitals as Doctors, Nurses and other jobs.”

No, many Arabs live peacefully in Israel. I have visited Israel twice. I have been for example to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Dead Sea, Bethlehem, Jericho amongst others.
I have spoken to many Arabs living there. They are happy to live within the Israeli State whilst maintaining their Arab heritage.
In Jerusalem, I saw how the Israeli Government secures Free Movement of Arabs to the Golden Dome Mosque in Jerusalem.
In Bethlehem, I saw how the Arab tour guides hugged our Jewish coach driver. I did not witness signs of an Arab revolt in all the places I visited.
OK, you might say, “ You were blind. “ I do not think so.
During my contacts with most sides of the Israel and Arab people, I have found them to be nice, peaceful, decent people.

I know many Jews. I attended the wedding of a Jewish friend many years ago. I have witnessed how decent, honourable and entrepreneur they all were. We cannot blame the Jews because they thrive to work hard, protect their rightful heritage, make money and they are protective of their faith -
like Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Budas and other religions in the World.

We need to remember that 6,000,000, let me repeat, Six Millions Jewish people were murdered by the Nazi regime in Germany in WW2 .the biggest crime ever. Whole families were wiped out. We must never forget. The survivors deserved to return to their historical home. The home centuries ago of the Jewish tribes. Their home conquered by the Romans. The land of Jesus.
Israel has a just cause to create The State of Israel.
If not, what about the Danes claiming North England back and the lands of “ DaneGold ?”
How about the Vikings wanting their land back ? What about France claiming back the lands that William 1 of England , The Duke of Normandy conquered ? I could go on and on with examples of historical claims.

So, this bring me right up to date with 2018 during which parts of The Labour Party are accused of Anti Semitism.
There is absolutely NO justification of this in the UK or anywhere else in the World. Apart from the fact that Anti Semitism is wrong and unfounded, it is step towards hate, division, strife and injustice. There is no excuse. No evidence.
No basis for truth. It must be stopped in its tracks.

There is so much untruths about the Jews and the State of Israel. Israel have every right to live in peace. “Some Arabs” cannot claim back what they never owned.
It is a great pity that “ The Palestinians “ cannot accept a Palestinian State “ within the boundaries defined by most of the Free World ?? Is it because in Gaza , Hamas are driven by hatred ? Is it because they do not want Israel to exist, like Iran ? Would they prefer to wreck millions of lives in warfare and terrorism ?

I respect the Jewish people. Israel is a thriving country. Is this what makes Hamas so jealous ?

I condemn anyone promoting Anti Semitism.
I hope that our younger generations learn the facts about history in the Middle East. If not, the future might create more murders of innocent people.

HISTORICAL BLUNDERS BY THE UK GOVERNMENT AND OTHERS

“ To understand the Present, you need to know the Past. “

I believe that this statement is true. Our Children and Grandchildren need to know History to learn from mistakes.
Here are some of my example about British Government Blunders that have proved to be very costly.
Let me start in 1936, the Years of my birth.....

1936 - King Edward VIIII was the uncrowned King of England.
He wanted to marry an American Divorcee Wallis Simpson.
The Government felt that this was a Constitutional crisis.
Edward had to resign. This was a petty mistake.
Can you imagine today, if the Government told Prince Harry, “ You must resign your Princedom and HRH before you can marry Megan, an American Divorcee? “

1939 - Britain declared War on Germany after Hitler invaded Poland. Britain had a Treaty with Poland at the time.
Britain was totally unprepared for War. The British Government should have waited until they were better prepared.
Britain just about won The Battle of Britain in 1940. It was a cliff hanger. All because Britain was ill prepared.

1940 - Dunkirk was a tragedy and a defeat. The British Army was outnumbered and outflanked. Once again, Britain was ill prepared and had poor leadership.

1950 - The Korean War. Britain joined the UN forces to fight the Communism of the North.
Today, Korea is still divided. Can you call this a success? Was it worth so many lives ?
Was it worth Millions of lives ?

Vietnam War. A similar situation to the Korean War.
Millions died fighting Communism. The Americans feared “ The Domino Effect.” They thought Communism would spread to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore.
It did not. Today, under Communism, Vietnam is a peaceful, happy prosperous country. A Number 1 Holiday hotspot for Western Tourists.
What then was it all about ?

1975 - Britain joined the EEC - The European Economic Community after a Referendum.
Britain never voted for a European Union with a President, Foreign Secretary, Parliament, Civil Service Commission, Council of Ministers.

21st Century
So, we move into the current Century.
Iraq War - most people by now understand the false information that caused the War in Iraq. President Sadam might have been evil but at least he kept the country under control. The War cost many lives and the aftermath is still with us today.
War cannot solve all problems.

The Referendum about the future of the U.K. and EU.
This is the latest debacle. Where it will end, we have to see.

THE BIG LESSONS

WAR is the worst solution to disputes between Nations.
It is a very last resort.

If you do go to War, make sure you have the resources and Allies to Win.

Citizens - Beware of what you read in the Media. They tend to stoke up the worse attitudes. They seem to thrive on making you hate Nations, Political Parties, Politicians and in particular Communism such as China and Russia.
Be careful you do not fall for misinformation or False News.
Keep an open mind.

I hope my Grandchildren will Study History with a very critical eye. The Future is theirs.

Why Oh Why do young children have to shout at each other when in Public Places ?

Why Oh Why do grown up Men and Women have to shout to friends in restaurants who are seated two tables away ?

Why Oh Why do adults and youngsters have to shout loudly at their Mobile Phones in Restaurants, Trains and Buses?

Why do Parents allow children to run around inside restaurants, theatres and supermarkets like it is a playground ?

Why do Parents allow children to sit in seats on the bus and trains whilst Elderly, Pregnant people are standing ?

Why do Parents allow their children to make Elderly and Adults step into the road whilst their children walk on the pavement ?

Why do beer drinkers speak louder and louder in the bar the more beer they drink oblivious of the comfort of other Patrons ?

Why do people smoke on the table next to you in the restaurant blowing unhealthy smoke fumes in your direction ?

WHY OH WHY ?

Because today Parents do not teach their children

Because Adults do not know what MANNERS are !

Because the schools do not teach MANNERS.

Because the Media does not promote MANNERS.

Is it not time we did something about this INDIVIDUALLY.

LATEST BREXIT IDEAS FROM EUREKYS

UK / EU NEGOTIATIONS - KEY BLOCKAGES THAT NEED COMPROMISE

In my opinion, there are two huge blockages that needs to be unblocked in the very near future if we are to avoid a No Deal finale to the UK/EU negotiations.

These are....EU demands that ......
1- UK to accept free movement for EU citizens.
2-UK to accept EU rules of trade with the EU countries.

My solution - which MUST be a compromise is as follows -

1- Free movement - Agreed but the UK to reserve the right to cap numbers on EU Immigrants and the UK to be able to introduce Work Permits.
Immigration from the EU cannot be free movement unrestricted, unchecked offering EU immigrants Free Healthcare, Welfare Payments, Free Schooling.
Healthcare for example must be paid for by the Government of the Immigrants permanent address in the EU. Similarly, any Welfare Payments must be paid by the Immigrants country of birth.

2- Trade with the EU will be bound by Joint EU/UK rules BUT The UK will have the right to sign Trade bilateral and multi lateral deals with non EU countries across the world.

There will not be any tariffs between the UK and the EU.
As a result, everyone gains.

This solution will not please everyone but it is much better than a No Deal solution.

All other UK/EU partnerships should continue as present. For example....Academic research partnerships, European Airspace Agreements .

There must continue Free Movements actress Europe including the UK for Tourism, Short term Business Visitors, Cultural Exchange, Police and Anti Terrorism Data exchange and boa fide Students.

NATO defence and cooperation should remain in situ.
I think that my proposal is fair, reasonable and in the interests of the EU and UK.

Surely, it should be included in the options for settlement with the EU.

If not, and the Super Canadian Deal or World Trade Authorities Rules are rejected by the EU, then the EU will not get a £39Billions Divorce settlement - although the UK must honour commitments up to Leaving date March 2019.

If the EU negotiators reject all UK Options, then the UK Government must submit their Optional Proposals DIRECT to all 27 EU Countries.

If this fails, it is up to Parliament to decide what to do.

If we still have impasse, there is only one sensible final step......GENERAL ELECTION 2019.

Now, 2 years later, the UK are still trying to do a special deal.
My view is that the two philosophies cannot agree and never will agree.

The EU negotiators are so stupid. Why cannot they say...Yes, due to the circumstances experienced in the UK - overloaded NHS, Schools, Welfare system, Communications - we will agree Free Movement but subject to a cap and Visa Policy of the UK Government. In other words..,REALISM.

So far, I have seen the UK make concession after concession but rigidity from the EU.
The EU cannot get out of the hole of No deal without Freedom of Movement. This is a crazy impasse.
I am really concerned that there will be no deal with the EU.
Everyone will lose if this happens. I predict in the UK and EU the following Civil unrest.....

Street Protests
Violence on the Southern / Northern Irish Border.

Our Government is guilty of signing Treaty after Treaty to do this. This was disgraceful.

Let me say it again...Free Movement YES But subject to UK Immigration Policy which is and will be GENEROUS to EU citizens and Third World citizens.
For heavens sake....Get REAL.

I support Rees- Mogg MP, Steve Baker MP and the 100 or more supporters in the Conservative Party who are trying so hard to get a “ Brexit means Brexit “ compromise solution. The final agreement will not be “ The Chequers solution. “ The EU will reject this.
The EU has so far offered no solution. The UK has taken 2 years talking to a “Brick Wall. “
Rees-Mogg MP, Steve Baker MP and their supporters do not wish to bring down the Government. I applaud their courage in producing a new alternative solution to the impasse with the EU.

All parties in this debate should recognise a workable compromise is needed..and fast.
If not, I believe that Parliament will Face a new General Election in January 2018.
Perhaps that will be good for Britain. I still predict a Conservative Win with a larger working majority.

PRESIDENT TRUMP VISIT TO THE UK - July 2018
Let’s put the Record straight.

Let me be very clear - I believe in peaceful protest in our Democracy. However, I have been searching for a word to sum up the recent protest in London and elsewhere and in Scotland against the visit of President Donald Trump, the legitimate elected President of the USA our greatest and most important ally. The word I have chosen is HYSTERICAL.

Yes, the recent Protests are wrong to show such rude and over the top objection to our guest and democratically elected President of the United States.
Now, let me express my Democratic views about the President.

TRUMP MANDATE
He is implementing what he promised the American Electors.
Not many Politicians in the West are able to do this once in office. He is a very successful Businessman who is used to dealing with all kinds of people from different nations of the World. He is confidant in his own ability. He believes in getting things done. He is a doer. He is tough. He is a Leader. He loves the USA and he is not willing for other countries to push him around or taking advantage of American Goodwill.
His Opposition do not like this !

STEEL
China and other countries have ruined the USA Steel Industry.
Thousands of USA workers have lost their job. Whole towns have become Ghost Towns. So, he promised to make the Steel Trade fairer to the USA. As a result he gets attacked by the culprits. He is right in his Policy. More jobs are being created in the Steel Industry. There is already are revival in the order book of the USA Steel Industry.

VISITOR BAN FROM ISLAMIC COUNTRIES
Trump was right to beware of incoming travellers from Islamic countries like Syria and Iraq. Until Isis has been completely beaten and peace returns, the USAdo not want terrorism on their soil. There is still a threat from religious maniacs who want to kill all of us in Western countries. Trump was being cautious. He was not against Human Rights. He wanted to protect American Citizens whilst danger remained.

MEXICAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
Next, is the Mexican Immigrant Influx.
Thousands upon thousands of Mexican Families have already crossed the border into the USA illegally.
He is right to put a stop to these people.
If he lets anarchy continue it means the breakdown of Democracy and the American workplace.
Limited immigration OK. Illegal entrants No. Trump is right again in his Policy.

THE CHILDREN
Trump never ordered children of immigrants to be separated from their Parents. When he found out about this Policy, he stopped it. Now do not say, he should have known. He has been host travelling the World on many other matters. He cannot know everything.

APPOINTMENTS
If you are a Leader, you need loyal intelligent in your team who support you. He had sacked a number of his team - rightly so.

PEACE EFFORTS
Trump is making bold attempts to prevail Peace by talking to North Korea. Next Russia. This is a very good move.Talk not War.

NATO
The USA pays more than 3% of their huge GDP than any of the other NATO countries. Many countries do not pay their fair share. It is right that Trump says that these countries pay more.

TAXES
President Trump promised the USA voters that he would reduce taxes. He has done this. The USA Economy is booming as a result.

IRAN
The Agreement with Iran was seriously flawed. It was only for a 10 year period. Trump does not trust Iran. There are constant Iranian protests yelling “ Death to America .” The Problem is that they mean it !
Given the chance Iran would send a Nuclear bomb to destroy Israel. Trump is right to demand a more stringent agreement with Iran.

CLIMATE
The Climate Accord is another example of sham commitment by many countries. Trump does not reject Climate change. He wants all countries to play their part in a new agreement.

TRADE
On his recent visit the UK press reported that Trump had said that there was no trade deal if the UK operated under EU rules.
Of course, he was right. When this was later reported, that he had changed his mine - this was incorrect. The Daily Express headline was “ Trump’s Jaw - Dropping U- Turn over Brexit.” He meant that if the UK did not sign up to EU rules, there would be a trade deal. Trump does not want to be restricted by the EU in any way. Yes, he puts America First. Don’t we put the UK First ?
In reality, it would be stupid for the EU to stop trading with the UK and crazy for the USA to stop trading with the UK.
Once again, it is not double talk from Trump only double talk from the Media.

THE ECONOMY
Since his election as President, Trump has created a boom in the Economy, Job creation, higher wages and a Wall Street DOW Jones Index at a high.

TAXATION
Drastic reductions in Corporation Taxes, higher allowances for ordinary people has spearheaded a feeling of optimism. Trump has done what he promised in spite of constant Democratic opposition.

THE MEDIA
What worries me about the recent Protests widely covered by the Media is that it could give the wrong impression to the USA that the UK does not like Trump - Far from reality. There is no doubt that the Media are biased often against Trump.
It is so difficult for ordinary people to make sense out of the sensational stories. On TV in Newsnight and often in the News the reporters give wrong impressions.

TRUMP BUSINESS
Trump has thousands of women working for him for many years. They like him. The Democratic Party are trying every dirty move to discredit Trump. They rake up any rumour. They lie. Yes, and Trump is right, there is lots of Fake News in the Media.

OUR NEEDS
We in the UK need President Trump. The West needs President Trump. Give the man a chance. Treat him as the Representative of the USA with respect. Keep events in prospective. He is doing a difficult job. Ridiculing him only helps our joint enemies.
The USA has come to the aid of the West in WW1 and WW2.
If the USA had not intervened I wonder how much freedom we would have today ?

THE TRUTH
A feature of Media reporting today is that they like to sensationalise. They twist the facts and often the truth.
They like headlines that sell newspapers. On TV, pundits also twist the facts and the truth. Ordinary people cannot be blamed for believing them.

DICTATORSHIP versus DEMOCRACY
Remember, in the USA the Government consists of the Senate and House of Representatives. Trump is not a Dictator.
In the Media, he is often portrayed as a Dictator. Not so.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY
Even since Hilary Clinton lost the election, the Democrats have been searching for any evidence or Fake News that could tarnish Trump. The Russia Involvement to rig the election for example. The American people are not stupid. They wanted Trump because he talked sense. He made promises that he intended and has implemented. He was a breath of fresh air on Capitol Hill and the White House.

IN BRITAIN TODAY
We are a divided Nation. Perhaps we have always been a divided Nation. It is so difficult for us ordinary Voters to understand what really is the truth and the facts. I hope that this article helps to put the record straight.

YES Protest. But, remember you might be in the minority.
Protesters represent their rightful views. They do not represent my views or those of people like me or the Government of the United Kingdom. We must beware of Mob Rule.

The current rate of people trying to enter Europe mainly from African States is non sustainable.
Already in Germany where Merkel welcomed over 1 Million immigrants, there is Political turmoil.

In the UK, the Immigration issue has been the main reason why over 17 Million people voted for Brexit.
Hungary , Greece and Italy are some of the countries who have suffered from boatloads of Immigrants. Let’s face it - most Immigrants are young men, looking for jobs and handouts. The Asylum rules are crazy. There will always be wars in many African states. Tribalism still prevails.
If Europe does not stop this tide of African influx, I am afraid that we are going to have even bigger problems in European Society.

I am shocked that the EU does not realise what massive immigration can do to European Nations.

David Cameron tried very hard to get the EU to agree a cap on Immigration into the UK. He failed in this mission.
The EU seemed to dismiss the problems that the UK already had. For example, The NHS overstretched. Schools overcrowded. Medical surgeries full up. Motorways cluttered. Jobs taken by Immigrants for lower wages. Free movement can be disastrous.

Why do you think the following countries wanted to join the EU?
Poland
Lithuania
Romania
Bulgaria
Ireland
Portugal
Greece

Answer - they receive more money and support from the EU than they put into the EU Budget. Of course they want to stay in the EU.

If the EU had only said to David Cameron - Yes, The UK can place a cap on Immigrants, I believe the result
of the Referendum would have been- REMAIN.

What fools the Hierarchy of the EU are !

The UK must get out of the EU in March 2019.
Deal or No deal.
Remember - a No deal will cause the EU MORE problems than the UK.

Immigrants who have qualified to work in the UK are welcomed. Of course they are. Do NOT claim that the UK are against Immigrants. This is totally untrue. Let me say it strongly, the UK needs Immigrants. The UK respects Immigrants. I personally value Immigrants and the great contribution they do in our NHS, our Government. Our Retail stores, our Railways and so on and on. They are vital to our Economy.
But, a flood of unauthorised Immigrants under the guise of Asylum seekers, low educated Africans seeking jobs and potential terrorists from Islamic Republics should be very carefully monitored.

Britain is a great country. I do not want my Grandchildren to inherit a country full of turmoil and strife.

Vet new incoming Immigrants very carefully. If there any doubts, do not let them in. Send them back to their country of origin.
Do not feel guilty for doing this. It is facing up to reality.

A new Visa system must be created. The Australian method works very well.
We can no longer allow a young Immigrant in who then has the right to bring in his Whole family from India, Pakistan, EU and elsewhere. In my town, 90% of the pupils in a new £4 Millions school are from Pakistan.
One new Immigrant could mean 13 extra new family members - the older members need medical help, cannot work and want dependence on the UK generous Welfare Programmes. This cannot go on.

The solution to Health Tourists is simple. Their country of origin must pay the bills and no credit given - they do not pay the bills once they have returned to their home country.

THE LOAN SHARKS

THE LOAN SHARKS - TIME TO CALL A HALT. 

How much longer is the Government going to allow these Loan Sharks to operate ?
These days you see their TV advertisements plying on many poor people.

On TV tonight one such Company was advertising Loans.
In small print they were quoting 1325% AER. There our many more Loan Sharks charging similar amounts of interest.
That is.....One thousand, three hundred and twenty five per cent each year ! Incredible.

I earn 1% from my Bank for deposits. I am lucky. Many Banks offer 0.5%.
The Sharks are charging over 1,000 per cent AER.
The problem is that many poor people, perhaps with low education do not understand was they are letting themselves in for. They are desperate for money. They see the Loan Sharks are an easy way out of their shortage of money to pay their bills.
A terrible problem of catch22.

Surely our banking system should be more lenient towards the poor.

I hate these Loan Sharks. Time to limit interest rates charged. For example, 3% AED maximum repayable in 3 months from date of Loan.

The Dirty Games

I have watched the World Cup all my life.

Never before have I seen so much dirty play which has been ignored by the Referees and VAR.
England have suffered so much by this dirty play.

I will not mentioned the offending teams - they know who they are. This is what I have witnessed...

Players jumping on the backs of the Defenders in the penalty area.

Arms around defenders waists pulling them to the ground.

Pushing defenders in the back

Hacking at the feet of attackers

Butting into the chest of defenders

Hand balling

Elbowing backs, chests, stomachs.

Tripping up attackers

Spitting in face

Pretending they were pushed in the penalty area.

And...on and on.

Really dirty players.
How could referees with VAR and linesmen ignore this carnage ?

Yes, I am sorry for the Russian organisers. They did their very best. But, the Referees were hopeless ?

RUSSIA 2018 were the DIRTY WORLD CUP GAMES !

WHERE ARE THE EU PROPOSALS TO SETTLE BREXIT ?

BREXIT - ANY SOLUTIONS FROM THE EU ?

I am a bit fed up with so many people and organisations blaming Theresa May, The Cabinet and the Conservative Party for not coming up with Proposals that the EU would accept.

It is about time that the UK asked the EU...What are your proposals ? At present, it is a game of tennis. The UK proposes a Plan and the EU knocks it away.
On and on this game goes on. Surely, the EU should play a constructive role instead of a destructive role.

So far, the UK have made concession after concession.
On Trade, the UK should say...We will impose same tarriffs
on EU goods and services as the EU will impose on the UK.
Guess who will win ? No one. The Consumers in the UK and EU will suffer. However, the EU will suffer the most. There is about £ 100 Billion Trade deficit between the EU and UK in favour of the UK.

My view is that we are heading for an impasse.
It is right that the UK prepares for a no deal.
What will happen is that there will be an election in the UK because MPs will not accept the final Brexit Plan.
Probably the Conservatives will win with a working majority.

What will happen next...I haven’t a Clue !

Yes - please Look out and Watch out The FATTIES are About.

This summer they seem to be everywhere - on the trains, on the beach, in the planes, the Tennis Tournaments, the concerts - you see them everywhere.

Who are these Fatties ?

They are people who do not seem to care a damn about the discomfort they cause to other citizens.
How is this ?
Fatties are men and women who are grossly overweight. Morbity overweight. Weight around 15 stone or more. Many over 20 stone in weight.
They have massive hips and bottoms, legs like tress trunks, bulbous faces - and some - to top it all - have tattoos over their necks, arms, legs. All in all they look revolting. Someone has to say it - yes - Revolting.
However, the problem is not their Human rights to eventually kill themselves. It is the discomfort and disregard to others that gets to me.

Recently, I attended The Eastbourne Tennis Tournament. Sitting next to me was a Fatty woman. She was so big, she crammed me in my seat, with her arms protruding into my space, her legs touching mine and she could not care a damn about my comfort. Behind me was a Fatty man, who kept kicking me in the back. he had massive legs.
If all this was not bad enough, the woman in front of me was a fatty. I noticed that her bulk protruded 2 inches each side into the seats next to her. Again, she could not care less about the people next to her who were too polite to complain.

If you are flying this Summer, beware if you have a Fatty sitting next to you. You are in for a very uncomfortable trip. Yes, they are everywhere !
What can be done about this Fatty problem that is costing the NHS £ Billions each year catering for Type 2 Diabetes, Stokes, Fatty Livers, Failing Kidneys, Clogged arteries ?

Her are some suggestions. Yes, they are radical.

1 - For seats at Concerts, Planes, Sporting events, any Fatty over say 15 stone can only admitted if they buy 2 seats.

2 - For flying, passengers should be weighed and anyone over 15 stone should not be allowed on the flight.

This Policy will cause uproar  among the Fatties. "My poor Human rights"  " I cannot help being Fat."
My response is - Lose some weight. Get healthy. Live longer. Do not be so gluttonous with food.
Eat the right foods. Do not cause problems for your Family, your friends, other people and the NHS.
Why should other citizens pay and suffer for your foolishness ?

So there you have the choice. Let the Fatties go on and be Fatties or penalise them in manner that may force them to change their Lifestyles ?

The border between Northern Ireland and Eire.

It seems to me that the EU are so far calling all the shots.

They demand proposals from the UK only to shoot them down.
We should ask the EU...What are your Proposals ?
Take the Irish Border issue. The UK should say -

“ We will not impose Customs checks on EU goods entering the UK from Eire. “ If the EU then say but we will, the UK should respond....” Then you will be responsible for violence and deaths as citizens burn down the Check Points.”

The Eire Government will have no choice but to have a Referendum to leave the EU. The answer this time will be..YES.
Is this what you want EU ?
You chose Violence and Death for Political Dogma !
It would be disastrous for Europe. Why not be sensible and have a non tariff Policy between Northern Ireland and Eire and throughout the British Isles.

I have never been in favour of Protective Tariffs. Free trade without hindrance is far better for International Trade.
However, if the EU insist on Tarrifs between the UK and the EU, make then small, like 5% which might satisfy the EU Policy of...
“ If you leave the Club you cannot have the benefits of the Club.”

The Financial Services impasse will kill off any agreement with the EU. On this topic, I have become Mr Pessimist.

The way things are going, I do not think we will reach agreement with the EU. It does look like...” No deal and all bets are off ! “
This will not be a disaster. The EU has more to lose than the UK. If dogma wins the day, people throughout the EU will suffer. There will be a run on the Euro, Unemployment will rise,
Citizen protests and anger will increase, unless the EU will come to its senses. I hope.

So, UK do not be timid. Turn the tables on the EU. Point out the downside of no agreement. Make the EU come to their senses.
The UK, must face reality, we will survive and prosper, whatever the result.
Postponement of problems for a year or more will not result in solutions.

Go on the offensive UK....before it is too late.

WARNING

This scenario might sound far fetched but I think it needs to be thought through by the UK and the EU.
If Eire imposed border controls, ad I have said, there will be Civil Unrest in Eire and Northern Ireland. This might lead to soldiers from Eire drafted in to protect the border. Then, British soldiers are sent, to protect Northern Ireland citizens and rebels. The situation gets out of hand, when shots are fired on both sides.
Eire retaliates. The EU step in but make the situation worse.
Then, everything gets out of hand. War breaks out.....the rest I leave to your imagination. Let History be our guide. How many Millions have died because of disputes over borders ? Far too many ! Learn from experience.

Stupid ? Ireland as a whole is a tinderbox.
There mustNOT be a border control between Eire and Northern Ireland.

Once upon a time, I used to work for a £ Multi Millionaire.
He had come to England from Eastern Europe in the 1930s to escape the advancing Nazi forces who were about to invade his Country. He was certainly not a sponger. He was a strong willed man and he at once started to build a company selling office supplies. This company eventually grew into a Public Company on the London Stock Exchange. He became a
£ Multi Millionaire in the 1960s.

One day, I asked him - “ What is it like being
a £ Multi Millionaire ?”
His answer was very profound. I have never forgotten it.
He said.....” I can only eat 3 meals a day like you. I can only sleep in one bed at a time like you, I can only drive one car at a time like you. I can only fly on an aeroplane and sit in one seat at a time like you. I can only marry one woman at a time like you. I can only wear one suit at a time like you.So, you see Ray, I am very much like you ! “

Of course, he was right.
As long as you have a reasonable amount of money to live a good life, you do not need to store up Millions and Millions of pounds.

I do not want to be a Celebrity, famous and worshipped by the followers of glutinous wealth. I feel as successful and content in my own right. I am a Volunteer and I prefer to give rather than to receive. Yes, I too can only eat 3 meals a day, sleep peacefully in one bed at a time, drive one car at a time, fly in one plane at a time, just like the £ Multi Millionaire entrepreneur from Eastern Europe.

THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2018

FAILURE ONCE AGAIN FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM

I have been watching the Eurovision Song Contest since ABBA won with their song Waterloo in the early 1970s.
I was delighted when Ireland won the Contest a few times with very melodic songs with words you could could hear and understand.
What has happened since then ?

Most of the recent songs have had singers who almost shout the words. The higher the pitch the more the audience would scream their applause. The more stupid The choreography was the better the audience liked it.
So, how has the UK performed after the last 10 years ?
As far as the performance of the artists are concerned, very well. The 2018 UK choice of singer, SuRie did her very best.
She came 24th out of 26 countries who reached the Final of the Contest.
Over the years, the UK had failed miserably to reach the top 10. Why is this so ?
Here is my evaluation......

Most of the songs selected by the UK jury have been poor.
The 2018 song choice was terrible. A loud, high pitched song about Storm. Noisy, non melodic, certainly not romantic. Just an assortment of Mumbo Jumbo !
Of course, the UK Press adopted a Wishful Thinking prediction. Many thought that this year we had a very good chance of winning. How wrong they were.
So, what is going wrong in the selection of the UK song for Eurovision ?

Firstly, I blame the so called experts, the UK Selection Panel Judges who do not seem to know how to select a potential winner.
The entry Rules for the UK play off seems to be clouded in mystery. I am a composer and I believe that two of my songs could actually win the Eurovision Song Contest. I contacted the BBC and they did not know how one applied for entry in the 2018 Contest. No one seems to know, how the singer is chosen to sing the winning song. The Public and Composers only seem to know what is going on when the Final 6 UK contestants sing in the Play off on television. At this stage, it becomes clear that all the songs chosen by the Judges were losers. So, I blame the Judges and the methodology of selecting winning songs. The net has to be cast wider.

I believe the time has come for the 2019 Contest in Tel Aviv to have a romantic Ballad. Invite a distinguished singer like RIA JONES to sing it. I can envisage her dressed in a long pale blue Gown, Centre stage with some backing singers dressed in pale yellow gowns. No dance routines. No stupid male dancers jumping around in the background, just Ria singing one of my ballads “ CRY OVER YOU “ or
“ EVERYTIME “ - a complete contrast to the crazy songs that have been performed in latter years for Eurovision.

I believe that the 200 Millions viewers onEurovision will like hearing a star like Ria, in her own wonderful manner of delivery and will vote for a song with melody in complete contrast to the rest of the entrants.
Certainly, the current trend on UK songs are all losers and unless the Selection Judges change direction in their choice of song for the UK entrant, I fear more failure in the future.
Is all this just a pitch for my songs ! Yes it is because I believe that they are far better than any of the UK entrants over the last 10 years.
The recipe for success at Eurovision Song Contest in my view is

 - Great singer like Ria Jones. If unavailable, someone of her standard from the Musical Theatre. Female.
 - Great new Ballad.
 - Simple colourful delivery on stage.
 - Romantic ambience in lighting and stage management.
 - No shouting the words.
 - Backing singers

I want this trend of failure for the UK to end.
